In July 2009, this Airbus A380 stopped in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on it's way from Toulouse, France, to the annual EAA AirVenture Convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This was the first visit by an A380 to an air show in North America. After three days in Oshkosh, it returned to Milwaukee for a few hours before heading back to France.

The location of my new job is along the flight path just north of Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport. I was able to convince the boss to walk over to Whitnall Avenue for some closeup photos of the jet's approach to runway 19R.

Along with it's enormous size, I was impressed with how quiet it was on approach. After my workday was over, I was able to get close to where it was parked.
