U can't see a u2 in that picture, but what the heck is that Delta winged plane next 2 the blackbird? looks like a mirage, but those are european.

I have personally seen this aircraft on display there and they must have added the D21 drone within the last few years. It is quite interesting to be able to go right up to it and touch the aircraft itself.
The numerous small black jets are T-38 Talons used for chase aircraft for the U-2. At the north end of the base on the hardstands are two A-10 Warthogs slated for demolition by the resident munitions school.

The fuselage and wing dimensions of the object north of the hangar match those of the U-2 straight to the south. I'd say it is a U-2 without wing pods or tail.

The only other Lockheed M-21 Blackbird is at the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field south of Seattle. It has the D21 attached. There is a cockpit you can sit in too. The mach guage goes to 10 !

There's more where that came from! There's one on display next to L.A. Center in Palmdale with another D-21 (the '21' purportedly stands for the cost ea. of $21 Million - mere peanuts for a disposable that was crashed into the ocean after jettisoning it's film canisters!). There's a rare 2-cockpit trainer version at Hill AFB that got stuck there after an emergency landing due to an engine failure. There were no more all titanium JT58T's to ferry there because some dumb ass politician got suckered by the Russkies into destroying all the tooling as part of some short lived treaty. There is also a Boemark Missile there - the only Mach 7 missile that could catch the Blackbird and was built out of paranoia of the Soviets knocking off the SR-71. It was the only vehicle ever built that had it's own IFF pulse - the infamous X pulse that is still reserved in the middle to this day!

That's clever. Stick it on a bright white diamond so it is extremely visible from aerial photography. So much for hiding military technology from all those spy satellites!

SR-71 is on static display. Like you know, to look at by anyone. It is 1950s technology that has long been retired. What's to hide exactly?

I think the T-38s are just painted on the tarmac. They don't throw a shadow, and all the T-38 chase planes I've seen were painted white.

Interesting how the current Google Earth image is just an SR-71 painted on the ground. If you scroll back time to 2006, you can see that there -was- a real SR-71 there.
