On Saturday 1st October 2022, JK1VUZ and JM3AVI, two radio amateurs from Japan reached the summit of Akagisan (Kurobisan) and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 18 contacts in total working on the 13cm, 23cm, 70 cm and 2 metre amateur radio bands.
