1992 NASCAR Winston Cup champion Alan Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993) drove this Ford stock car. He was sponsored by Hooters from 1991 until his tragic death in a plane crash in 1993. This car is on display at K1 Speed Indoor Go Kart Racing.
With a college degree in engineering, Kulwicki cut his teeth on race tracks in his home state of Wisconsin before moving south to race in NASCAR full-time in 1985. After winning his first Cup race in 1988, he took a reverse victory lap, which he coined a "Polish Victory Lap".
His championship in 1992 was remarkable considering that he owned his own moderately budgeted single-car team competing against well-funded multi-car teams.
