Andersonville

Andersonville, Georgia (GA), US
Street view of the actual location of Andersonville prisoner of war camp (Union prisoners). The dip in the middle is where the dirty water was located. The stone plinth across the field shows the huge length of the camp. The entrance is roughly from the screenshot, to where the distant stone monument sits (mid/upper right of frame).

More than 30,000 Union POW suffered in this camp. Conditions were awful and many died of a number of diseases or in fights, as supplies were so thin. The camp commander was hung post-war for breaking the code for boths sides on how to treat prisoners. The location is often first encountered in the critically acclaimed 1996 film; Andersonville.
