This was the condominium in which the late globe-trotting chef and host of "A Cook's Tour", "No Reservations", "The Layover", and finally "Parts Unknown", had bought with his now-widowed wife Ottavia Busia Bourdain bought for $3.35 million before hanging himself aged 61 on June 8, 2 weeks and 3 days shy of what would have been his 62nd birthday, at the Le Chambard Hotel in Kaysersberg-Vignoble, Haut-Rhin, in France. In his life, he had graduated from the Culinary Institute of america in 1978, was the executive chef of Manhattan's Brasserie Les Halles, published "Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly" in 2000, and was nominated and the winner of a string of awards for his work since the early 2000s such as Bon Appétit's Food Writer of the Year for 2001, along with several Emmy Awards.
