On Friday 22nd July 2022 Matt JG1BOK a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Arukuiwa and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 15 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF and the 40, 20 and 17 metre HF amateur radio bands.
