Balkerne Gate

Balkerne Gate

Colchester, United Kingdom (GB)
The Balkerne Gate was thought to have been built as a monumental arch pre-dating the town's Roman walls. After suffering at the hands of Boudica the Romans built the town walls incorporating the Balkerne Gate into it. The gate is the largest surviving gate from Roman Britain and is located on the west side of the town.
