Betty Mahmoody's House

The author and public speaker, best known for her book, Not Without My Daughter, lives here. Her book was turned into the 1991 film, of the same name, starring Sally Field as Betty Mahmoody.

Betty Mahmoody, an American, married Sayyed Mahmoody, an Iranian anesthesiologist. The couple, along with their young daughter, travelled to Iran. As a patriarchal theocracy, Betty came to find that she and her daughter were unable to leave the country and return to America without her husband's express consent, leading her to have to devise an escape plan to return to safety.
