Place of birth of Oguri Kozukenosuke
This is the place of birth of Oguri Kozukenosuke (1827-1868), who took the lead of the fiscal policy and the Japanese diplomacy in the late days of the Tokugawa shogunate. Through construction of big shipbuilding yard in Yokosuka city, he inaugurated the way for the modernization of the Japanese shipbuilding industry.
