Mysterious London-based, Armenia-born billionaire Bob Manoukian owns this home. Manoukian keeps a low profile and the source of much of his vast wealth is unknown. He was recently listed as the 128th richest man in the UK.
Manoukian was a longtime close business associate of the Sultan of Brunei, until a failed business deal resulted in Manoukian suing the Sultan's brother. A countersuit was filed and the matter was eventually settled out of court. Manoukian has a wide variety of business interests and investments, reportedly all controlled by his Liechtenstein-based holding company.
In 1993, Manoukian caused a kerfuffle when he proposed to build a 59,000 sq foot estate on Tower Road in Beverly Hills. His next-door neighbor Jack Lemmon and others were furious and immediate started a petition to stop construction on the estate. The petition amassed over 8,000 signatures from local residents and made front-page news in the LA Times before Manoukian's plans were eventually vetoed by the Beverly Hills City Council.
Manoukian also owns the Siran, a Monaco-based 63-meter yacht that has been valued at nearly $100 million.
This Trousdale Estates property was originally two separate homes until Manoukian combined them into a single residence within the past few years. The new house measures more than 11,500 sq. feet.
