Bob's Big Boy is a casual dining restaurant chain founded by Bob Wian in Southern California in 1936, originally named Bob's Pantry. The oldes Bob's still open was designed by renowned architect Wayne McAllister, and built in 1949. The restaurant, originally both a drive-in and sit-down restaurant, retains its drive-in features at the building's rear. The fully intact cantilevered, boomerang-shaped steel awning, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesen, covers what was originally drive-in parking. It is the oldest Bob's still open.
