The geometric design in this image is part of the Bonneville Salt Flats in northwestern Utah. The long horizontal line is Interstate 80, the long vertical line is the Nevada-Utah border. The X with three lines through it northwest of the center is the Wendover Airport.

But something else makes this spot interesting: Just north of the airport is struggling mountain town Wendover, Utah. Immediately on the other side of the state border is the thriving gambling town of West Wendover, Nevada. As a result, the city of Wendover is seeking to leave Utah, become part of Nevada, and then merge with its wealthy neighbor. While this has been approved by both cities and states, the new border has not been determined and still requires U.S. Congress approval.
