How is there a Japanese TV program underground in North Korea?

And what good is satellite imagery of objects underground that you can't see?

Underground in North Korea?
The TV programm (former North Korean officer) said that North Korean missile bases was connected by tunnels.
Also said there were launch holes at the right side's hill of Bukchang base.
I don't remember in detail. Sorry...

Sounds like propaganda to me. Their above ground missile bases are very crude and primative. I have a hard time believing that is simply becuase their sophisticated missiles are being stored in state-of-the-art underground bases. State-of-the-art and North Korea aren't usually used in the same sentence, let alone paragraph. Even their nuclear technology was largely imported from Pakistan.

It's no mistake North Korea puts their ballistic missiles out in the open for every passing satellite to see. Their foreign policy is much like that of a Frilled Lizzard. Put on a big bluster and make predators think you are bigger than you are. Claiming to have underground missile bases only adds to that smoke screen.

Well, we know with Saddam Hussein recently, his weapons production was also crude. We also know he used WMD on his very own citizens in the past and old munitions will probably still turn up in the future. We also also know sanctions against Iraq did little to Hussein's bank account. He was in cahoots with Russia & France and others, able to pile up loads of money and do what he wanted with it. Had there never been inspectors into Iraq, Hussein would almost undoubtedly have the stockpile now we thought he did a few years ago. Whether he would have had nuclear weapons is quite debatable but surely he would have had chemical and/or biological weapons able to launch at Israel or sell to interested buyers.

Now, what we don't know about North Korea is probably equal to or greater than what we didn't know about Iraq. With all this crap going on involving our border with Mexico, the lunatic in charge of Iran, and this garbage in Lebanon, plus our upcoming mid-term elections, North Korea is, in my view, sitting pretty without inspectors, without sanctions, without much intrusion into Kim Jong Il's regime at all. As more and more times goes by with no action against NK, more and more they can do to build up weapons capable of wiping out tens of thousands (or more?) of people. Sanctions against NK will probably be a joke. They'll probably still be able to almost whatever they want. Money now is being heavily diverted AWAY from most NK citizens... does anyone think that will ever stop?

If tomorrow they launched a nuclear tipped missile that hits on or near American soil, I wouldn't be surprised.

We need not hurry with North Korea (we being the US). North Korea is desperate that the world pay attention to it, largely becuase they know better than anybody that they are on the verge of economic collapse. They've already had millions die of starvation, and would still be in dire straights without the influx of foreign humanitarian aid.

Even if their long range missile hadn't failed during their most recent test, people in the know estimate it will be at least ten years, probably more, before NK can miniturize its warheads to ride atop those missiles. The world can breathe easier with full confidence NK doesn't have ten years before it collapses under its own unsustainable weight. Which is why, right now the best policy is to wait.
