Hollywood icon and once international sex symbol the late Burt Reynolds lived here during his final days. Known for his roles in such iconic pieces as Smokey and the Bandit, and Cannonball run, he got his first break in the New York City Center revival of "Mister Roberts" in 1957, as well as a recurring spot in the TV series "Gunsmoke." From here the actor launched into stardom. By 1974, Reynolds had hit it big and starred in the film "The Longest Yard”, going on to have a critically acclaimed career in Hollywood films. Two years earlier, he broke taboo and posed nude in Cosmopolitan magazine, with the iconic image of him on a bearskin rug. Though the actor later regretted the decision, as he felt it cost him an academy award.

Burt Reynolds reportedly spent his last days at this Florida home, even though he sold it in 2015 to his neighbor. Thankfully, out of respect for the actor, his neighbor let the Hollywood icon stay there, charging pennies on the dollar for rent. Born in Lansing, Michigan, Reynolds and his family moved to South Florida when he was 5, and has lived in the Sunshine state for most of his life.

In 2015, Reynolds sold the Hobe Sound, Florida home to Charles Modica for $3.3 million, well under its listed value. The property sits on a 3.4-acre lot and includes a 12,000-square-foot main house, a two-bedroom guesthouse, a pool with the Florida State University logo, a dock, a personal movie theater and a helicopter landing pad. Reynolds bought it in 1980 for $700,000 and lived there during his marriage to Loni Anderson. He started trying to sell it in 2005, but was unsuccessful until Modica agreed to buy it for nearly two million less than it’s worth. Now the property is reported to be worth at least 5 Million.

Reynolds famously went through financial difficulties after he divorced Anderson in 1993. It took 22 years for their financial ties to be severed, leaving the actor with little. At the time of his death he had little more than $3 Million in net worth. Though more money than most could dream of, it was but a fraction of his total lifetime earnings.

The handsome Hollywood star whose looks drew prominent roles in films such as "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Boogie Nights," suffered a cardiac arrest, in 2018 and passed away.
