This is where George H.W. Bush spent much of his childhood. He purchased it from his cousin, George Herbert Walker, Jr. in 1977 It has served as the summer home for the Bush family for years.

GHW Bush didn't inherit it. It was owned by his uncle GH Walker Jr and put up for sale after his death in 1977, which is when GHW Bush purchased it.
