The casino of the film's title is supposed to be in Montenegro but, in keeping with Bond tradition, is somewhere else. The luxury Grandhotel Pupp got a temporary celluloid facelift for the film and was transformed into Casino Royale.

The hotel was also featured in the 2006 film, Last Holiday starring Queen Latifah. In Last Holiday, the hotel kept the name Grandhotel Pupp.
