Casiquiare is a river in the south of Venezuela (Amazonas state). It is 410 km long. The basin has an area of 45,000 km2. It is actually a river arm of the upper Orinoco river, which flows in a southerly direction and still in Venezuela flows into the Río Negra, which is a left tributary of the Amazon. It creates a unique natural water channel between the Orinoco and Amazon river systems.
