Johnson, Jr. is the founder and former chairman and CEO of PurchasePro.com a business-to-business Internet startup company founded in Las Vegas in 1997 , originally to help hotels and casinos pool their purchase power via an online exchange. The company's accounting practices and subsequent bankruptcy became a scandal resulting in criminal charges, convictions, and fines for a number of executives at the company and at America Online.
