The name of the Chevrolet Blazer successor is self-explanatory if it comes with the SS package that was introduced in 2005 for the 2006 model year. Sitting on a buyer's choice of either RWD or 4WD, under the hood lies the same engine found in the 2005-2007 Corvette C6 that produces around 390 horsepower, making it a powerhouse of an SUV at the time of its release. Even though its exhausts are further restricted, it still performs relatively well, with a 0-60 time of around 5.5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 140 miles per hour. A Saab-badged version known as the 9-7X Aero was also available. The last GMT360-platformed TrailBlazer rolled off the assembly line on December 16, 2008, and the Moraine, Ohio plant where it was made closed its doors a week later.
