This is the original statue made by Thorvaldsen completed in 1838. The sculpture is also known by Mormons of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mormons coming to Copenhagen always come to the Cathedral to see "their" Christus statue at the original place at the altar and not at their Cathedral in Salt Lake City, Utah.
