The 15,000 acre CL Ranch, located just west of Calgary, has been the filming location of dozens of films and television shows since 1994. This old western town set was built for the short-lived TV series Lonesome Dove (a spinoff of a 1989 mini-series of the same name).
Recently, the town set and surrounding land were used for filming Forsaken, a movie starring Kiefer and Donald Sutherland, and Demi Moore. Other projects filmed here include Klondike (Discovery Channel mini-series), Shanghai Noon (Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson), Heartland (long running Canadian TV series), and Hell on Wheels (AMC TV series).
