Clonmacnoise Castle

The remains are worth visiting especially during sunset. While visiting the remains of the castle itself is not permitted, the remains of the monastery may be visited (a fee applies). Worth mentioning here is the High Cross of the scriptures, of which a replica is shown outside, while the original stands within the visitors center.
