The Compleat Angler Hotel contained 12 rooms and was best known for the famous guests who visited. Lucille Ball, Jimmy Buffett, Senator, Gary Hart are among the famous names. Perhaps the most famous visitor was Ernest Hemingway who was a guest from 1935 to 1937 and is said to have worked on the 1937 novel "To Have and Have Not" there.
The Hotel burned down in 2006 and the owner, Julian Brown perished after leading guests out of the fire.
