I (Raymond Caldwell) was a security guard at Barksdale AFB Oct 51-oct 52. The plane was loaded with aircraft engines for record weight flown. Partially completed, it had a minor structural failure, was unloaded, put in repair for about 4 months , repaired, loaded to max payload, flt summer of 52. Set world record.

Sadly, restoration isn't in the cards for this one. What's left of it is in the bone yard Davis–Monthan Air Force Base, in Tucson, Arizona. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_XC-99#Retirement_and_display
