On Friday 16th September 2022, Szymon WV0X, a radio amateur from Denver, CO reached the summit of Cottonwood Peak and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 21 contacts in total working on the 20 metre HF amateur radio band.
