Kermott serves as President of The Talon Group LLC. Mr. Kermott serves as President of United General Title Insurance Company, which is wholly owned by First American Title Insurance Company. He served as Executive Vice President of First American Corp., since 1999. He served as President of First American Title Insurance Company at First American Corp., from 1999 to December 4, 2006, and its Executive Vice President from 1996 to 1999 and Chief Operating Officer from 1997 to 1999.
Mr. Kermott's career with First American began in 1983 when he was hired as a law clerk in Santa Ana, Calif. After passing the bar in 1985, he was promoted to assistant counsel on the national legal staff. He transferred to Arizona in 1988 and became Associate Counsel for the state office in Phoenix, then later that year moved to Tucson to manage the Pima County operation.
Mr. Kermott was named President of First American's Arizona division in 1990, and in 1993 was named Regional Vice President for Arizona and Utah. Mr. Kermott serves as Vice Chairman and Director of First American Title Insurance Company. He was elected President of the American Land Title Association (ALTA) in 2007. He has also served on the ALTA Board of Governors since 2000.
He attended law school at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California and received his Law Degree in 1985.
