This building within the Oka Ben Nafi Air Base has been painted to match the surrounding lot, including a shrub or rock with traffic patterns around it, and it also appears the lot has been doctored to better hide the building as well, with little whiteish mounds matching those of the building's roof.

I believe this is the camoflage technique known as "undermaintained dirt and rust".

It's been a very long time since I looked at Wheelus AFB. I was on temporary duty there in the late 60s, just before and after Gaddafi took over. If I remember correctly that large pond behind the maintenance buildings on the diaginal taxi way is a salt mine. Further down the taxi way towards the two alert hangers at the end of the runway is a large pad with a bunch of helicopters. That's where the Libyan AF was located when we were there (F-5s and T-33s). Not much of an airforce in those days. On past that area along the side of the taxi way with the little individual aircraft pads is where (if memory serves me correctly) the under ground fuel tanks were.

Granted, it's been over 40 years now, but that's what I remember from just looking at the photo. I think I could identify my old baracks and possibly the bowling alley.

My home base was the 50th TFW USAF Hahn AFB Germany. Many USAF bases in Europe used Wheelus during the winter months.
