Culp air strip (abandoned?)

Culp air strip (abandoned?) (Google Maps)

According to the FAA, this is/was known to them as Culp Airport, a one-plane, privately owned dirt landing strip. This was probably a sizeable farm and/or ranch located within the Dallas city limits... but due to overdevelopment of almost every U.S. metropolitan area, this air strip looks to be no longer used and will most likely soon be yet another cookie cutter suburban sprawldivision.

Doesn't look like what is left of the surounding farm land has been used for that in some time, and there is no evidence of any aircraft support / maint. equip / hangar either.

The old airport was a long way from where this map centers. It is/was due North of C.F. Hawn Freeway and West of Prairie Creek Rd. The City of Dallas now operates the area as a park.

Anonymous, do you know the history of this Culp airstrip. Do you know if C.F. Hawn fwy and Prarie Creek Rd was under construction in the early 60's?

Repurposed, with a lake. Remnants of the airstrip are still there though.
