Daniel Phillip Dietz Jr (1/26/1980 – 6/28/2005) was a Navy SEAL who was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during Operation Red Wings in the War in Afghanistan. In the film "Lone Survivor" he is played by actor Emile Hirsch. The film covers some of the events of Operation Red Wings.
