This property in Lausanne, Switzerland was once home to English singer and songwriter, David Bowie.

David Jones, born January 8, 1947 in the south of London, is known around the world as the singer, songwriter and actor, David Bowie. David Bowie has estimated record sales of 140 Million records worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. David started making music in 1963 and released his well known album “Space Oddity” in 1969. This was David’s first album and it was a hit. David re-emerged as Ziggy Stardust in 1972 and released more albums. In 1975, David Bowie got his first cross-over hit in the US with his song Fame and his Young Americans album. Soon after, from 1977-1979 he released albums with Brian Eno. In the early 80s, David Bowie again scored hits with his songs Under Pressure and Let's Dance. David Bowie continued to record for the rest of his life, including his most recent and last release. Blackstar was released January 8, 2016, two days before his death. David Bowie passed away January 10, 2016 after an 18 month battle with liver cancer.

In 1969, David met Angie Barnett and they married and had one son, Zowie (now Duncan). They moved to Switzerland in 1971. It is rumored they moved here to avoid paying hefty US taxes. David and his son moved to this home, originally constructed for a Russian prince, in 1982. This 14 room estate, built in the early 1900s, is next to the Sauvabelin forest above Lausanne and is called the Chateau du Signal. David Bowie later married Iman here in 1992 and shortly thereafter moved to the US. The home sold in 1995 for CHF 4 Million Francs. David and Iman had one child together, a girl names Alexandria (Lexi) in 2000.

At the time of his passing, David Bowie had an estimated net worth of $230 Million.

Coco Chanel rented an adjacent house at 20 Route du Signal. Chanel died in 1971 so there is no way she could have sold it to Bowie. Jeezum crow, people.
