Barter Island LRRS, also known as BAR-M, was the prototype Distant Early Warning Line Station with a White Alice Communications System (WACS). The DEW Line Station operated between 1947 and the mid-1980s, at which point a Minimally Attended Radar was installed, which still operates today.
