Douglas MacArthur (January 26, 1880 – April 5, 1964) was an American five-star general in the US Army. MacArthur was raised in a military family, his father being Lt. General Arthur MacArthur, Jr. Douglas graduated West Point in 1903 top of the class, scoring 2424.12 merits out of a possible 2470.00 or 98.14.

Douglas was nominated for the Medal of Honor in 1917 for a reconnaissance mission in Veracruz, Mexico. He later won the Medal of Honor for his exploits in the Philippines in WWII. MacArthur rose to general in World War I and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross twice and the Silver Star seven times. From 1919-1922 Douglas served as Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
