Edward, the Black Prince (June 15, 1330 – June 8, 1376) was the eldest son of King Edward III and is best known for his military prowess. He received his name, the Black Prince 150 years after his death most likely from his black armor and shield. Other's claim the black description comes from his brutality in France. However he received the name, there remains a mythical aurora around Edward's deeds and his chivalry.
