Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was a German-born avant-garde, Dadaist artist and poet who worked for several years in Greenwich Village. Though there were many "colorful" people that lived in this building in the late 1800's and early 1900's, The Baroness is perhaps the most famous, certainly the most flamboyant.
