On Monday 31st October 2022, Richard OE5FFE/P, a radio amateur from Austria reached the summit of Engelkarspitze and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 14 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Engelkarspitze is 2518 metres (8261 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
