The Adriatic sector saw fierce fighting in November-December 1943 with the attempt of the Allies to break through the eastern end of the Gustav Line. Many of those who died fighting in those months and those that followed are buried in this cemetery contains a memorial to the 500 Indian soldiers who fell in this area (2617 graves)
