After presenting tourists a fake Roman amphitheater in Arcugnano, near Vicenza for years, Franco Malosso von Rosenfranz was convicted of illegal construction and art forgery.

For nearly twenty years, it was presented to visitors as an extraordinary archaeological discovery: an ancient Roman amphitheater hidden in the hills surrounding Vicenza, with a history that intertwined Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, and even Juliet Capulet. In reality, it was a modern construction, made of artificial materials and transformed into a tourist attraction through a completely fictional tale.
