First National Bank Tower, in the heart of downtown Omaha, is seen during its construction phases in the opening sequences of About Schmidt. The building was designed by Leo A. Daly architects, the firm that was also responsible for the Woodmen Tower, also featured in the film. It was constructed by Peter Kiewit Sons, Inc. The tower is not only the tallest building in Nebraska, but also the tallest building between Denver and Minneapolis. It is 3 feet taller than the St. Louis Arch and outranks the Nebraska State Capitol by 232 feet. The tower is now home to the Omaha Press Club.
