Manchester Liverpool Road was opened 15.9.1830, closed to passengers 4.5.1844 and closed completely in 1975.

Today the station is largely intact and the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry now occupies the site. The original tracks at the station and goods yard are all in place and forms part of the museum's exhibition. The departure track now forms part of the footpath from the goods yard to the station building. The station location still has access to the main line.
