Former St. Mary's Underground Station

Former St. Mary's Underground Station (StreetView)
St. Mary's station was an underground station on the London Underground. The station served on the District and Metropolitan lines. The station was located between Whitechapel and Aldgate East stations in East London.

St. Mary's station opened 3rd March 1884 and closed 30th April 1938. The station was closed as a decision of opening the nearby Aldgate East.

What's left today:
Some remains of the platforms, corridors and footbridge at the station still remain at track level. The station building at ground level was badly damaged during the Blitz and later demolished. A hotel now occupies the site of the station building.
