Future site of the Óscar Niemeyer International Cultural Centre

The Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center will be a cultural complex of international importance, attracting knowledge and artistic creations that will contribute to the economic and urban regeneration of the Estuary of Avilés, which is undergoing a complete industrial transformation. Both the Spanish Central Government and the Principality of Asturias are involved in the project.

The first stone was laid in April 2008 and the inauguration of the center is planned for 2010. Nonetheless, the Niemeyer Center has already begun to put its philosophy into practice and has organized cultural activities on an international scale.
