Gateway Geyser

Gateway Geyser

East St Louis, Illinois (IL), US
Soaring to nearly 630-feet, the geyser's height mirrors that of St. Louis' famed Gateway Arch, located directly across the Mississippi River. The center fountain is complemented by four auxiliary fountains, which represent the four rivers that converge in the St. Louis area.

This engineering marvel is powered by three 800-horsepower pumps, discharging 8,000 gallons of water per minute, at 250 feet per second. It has an axial thrust of 103,000 pounds. The water explodes out of the six-foot-tall polished, aerated nozzle at 550 pounds per square inch pressure.
