Gene T. Sykes is head of Global Mergers & Acquisitions and Chairman of Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications Investment Banking for Goldman Sachs. He is a member of the Management Committee. He was named partner in 1992. In 2011, he paid $40 million for La Belle Vie, a 35,000 sq ft Bel-Air mansion owned by Iris Cantor, widow of husband Bernard Gerald Cantor (who founded Cantor Fitzgerald). Having advised companies including General Electric and Walt Disney, he has been called the most influential M&A banker of his time.
