George R. Roberts is the billionaire co-founder of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, the second largest private equity firm in the world. He and his partners have led the firm in its growth into a leading global alternative asset manager. Roberts' involvement in the RJR Nabisco deal was profiled prominently in the book and movie, Barbarians at the Gate. He was featured on the cover of FORTUNE Magazine at the height of the buyout boom of the 1980s alongside his cousin and partner, Henry Kravis. Prior to co-founding KKR, Roberts was in the Corporate Finance Department of Bear Stearns & Company where he, Mr. Kravis and Jerome Kohlberg pioneered the use of leverage in acquisitions.

In 2007, Roberts has a reported net worth of $5.5 billion, making him the 57th wealthiest American. He owns this $22 million mansion, the 9th most most expensive in the state of Hawaii as of 2010.
