Wilhelm I was Emperor of Germany from 1. January 1871 to 9 March 1888 and King of Prussia from 2. January 1861 to 9. March 1888. His effigy is at Castle Charlottenburgs Mausoleum. A ledger stone behind the effigy marks the spot in the crypt .
He was the first Emperor of the German Empire that lasted from 1871 to 1918.
