On Sunday 4th September 2022, JJ0WFV and JJ1RUI, two radio amateurs from Japan reached the summit of Gongendake and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
They made 15 contacts in total working on the 70 cm and the 2 metre VHF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Gongendake is 2720 metres (8924 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
