Grain power station built in the 1970's, at one time the largest oil-fired power station in Europe and possibly the world. It was capable of producing enough electricity to meet all the needs of cities the size of Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool. It was mothballed in 2003, but reopened in 2006 and as at 2006 provides up to three percent of the National Grid supply.
