Grantstown Wood / Grantstown Lough Nature Reserve is located in County Laois. It is a wet woodland ecosystem. The base-rich soils of the area are ideally suited to alder, ash and birch trees. Grantstown Lough is a good example of a lake gradually transforming into alder carr through a fen succession.
