The Halifax Central Library is a public library that opened in December 2014. The architects were chosen through an international competition in 2010. Locals Fowler Bauld and Mitchell and Schmidt Hammer Lassen of Denmark won and built the library to resemble a stack of books.

The library is five stories with 11,000 sq. meters (120,000 sq feet). The library features a cafe and rooftop terrace, numerous works of art, an auditorium, several reading rooms and a children's play area.
